Tender chicken marinated with a nutty sesame sauce, this surprisingly simple dish is filled with rich sesame flavor.
Always one for variety, I love experimenting with sauces when cooking. After having an amazing shabu shabu (beef hot pot) dinner one night at a restaurant, I was hooked on the sesame sauce they served for dipping. What really made the flavor stand out was the nerigoma, or sesame paste, mixed in, and I just couldn’t get enough!
After that one fateful night, I’ve really fallen in love with the flavor of sesame, so I really just wanted to give in to the craving and make a dish with as much sesame as possible. We’ve been obsessed with chicken served with a peanut butter sauce lately, so I thought why not use the same approach with sesame instead?! The result, a very nutty, protein packed dish that has quickly become a household favorite!
This recipe tastes best with nerigoma, but tahini is a suitable replacement. Nerigoma has a more toasted flavor, but as long as you mix in some toasted sesame seeds, the taste is pretty close! No time to marinade? That’s fine, you can skip it and just cook the chicken right away! Or, better yet, prep your chicken the night before and it’s ready to cook for a super quick meal the next day!
Recipe – Chicken With Sesame Sauce:
– Mix the ingredients for the sauce in a small bowl and set aside.
– Sprinkle the salt and pepper on to the chicken to season. Then slice the chicken breasts into bite size pieces for quick cooking.
– Mix the chicken with the sauce and marinate for about 30 minutes.
– When ready to cook, heat the oil in a large skillet over medium high heat. Once hot, add the chicken and the sauce to the pan.
– Cook for about 5 minutes until the bottom of the chicken is nice and brown. Flip the chicken over and continue cooking for another 5 minutes until the chicken is cooked through.
