Shichimi Togarashi – Japanese Chili Powder

Shichimi Togarashi, or seven flavor chili powder, (七味唐辛子, しちみとがらし) is a popular condiment in Japan that is often used alongside salt and pepper. It is most often used in soups and noodle dishes, though you can sprinkle it in whenever you want to add a little heat to your dish!

Although similar, it is not the same spice blend as Ichimi Togarashi (一味唐辛子), or one flavor chili powder, which is simply just ground chili powder. If you cannot find shichimi togarashi, you can mix your own blend, or you can substitute for red pepper powder for a similar heat.
